J.C. Smith Rites Tuesday

Services for J.C. Smith, 67, Tyler, are scheduled for 3:30 p.m. Tuesday in Lloyd James Funeral Home chapel with J.C. Tate officiating.
Burial will be in Williams Cemetery.
Mr. Smith died Saturday night at his residence after a lengthy illness.
He was born Aug. 22, 1921, in Stigler, Okla. He was a resident of Tyler for the past 4 1/2 years. He was a former resident of Fairfield. He was an employee of Chemcal Express. He was an Army veteran of World War II, where he received two Bronze Stars and the American Theater Campaign Ribbon.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Opal Treon Smith, Tyler, a son and daughter-in-law, James and Ann Flannery, Fairfield; three daughters and sons-in-law, Ann and Jack McKelvey and Rhonda and John Raymond, all of Tyler, and Norma and Pete Slaton, Lindale; a brother, A.L. Smith, Tyler; two sisters, Mrs. Clara Hague, Texarkana, and Mrs. Virginia Briggs, Dallas; 12 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Earnest Bishop, E.S. Ray, Carl Brumit, Clyde Hearn, Dale Mize and Craig Hobbs.
