Services for Albert L. "Shorty" Smith, 75, Tyler, are scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Burks Walker Tippit Funeral chapel with Revs. Raymond Burroughs and Doug Anderson officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Doug Bailey, Mark Shackelford, Rick Bailey, Dustin Frank, Tyson Shackelford and Bill Hopkins.
Mr. Smith was born Feb. 6, 1930, in Soper, Okla., to the late William A. Smith and Sudie Viola Smith, and had been a Tyler resident for the past 64 years. He passed away peacefully at Hospice Homeplace on Jan. 23, 2006.
He was a self-employed paint contractor and attended Rose Heights Church of God.
He is survived by his loving wife, Ernestine of Tyler; daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Douglas Bailey of Flint, Debra L. Shackelford of Whitehouse, sister, Clara Hague of Greenville; grandchildren, Holly Frank and husband Dustin, Tyson Shackelford and fiancee Dallas Crain; and great-grandson, Mason Shackelford.
