Marie Maddox a resident of Platter, Oklahoma and beloved family member passed away in Boswell on Sunday, August 17, 2014 at the age of 84 years 10 months and 23 days. She was born to William Otto and Velva (Scott) Downs in Calera, Oklahoma on Wednesday, September 25, 1929.

Marie Downs married Arthur Ray Maddox on April 7, 1948 in Durant, Oklahoma. Marie gladly committed her life to caring for her home and family. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Cartwright, Oklahoma. Marie loved to sew for her family, create beautiful quilts, gardening and canning her harvest.

Mrs. Maddox is survived by her son, Larry Maddox and wife Carol of McKinney, Texas; daughters, Dixie Washer and husband Terry of Cartwright, Oklahoma and Melody Dill and husband Jim of Boswell, Oklahoma; sister, Louise Beaubien of Colbert, Oklahoma; 11 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Maddox was preceded in death by her parents, William Otto and Velva Downs; husband, Arthur Ray Maddox; seven siblings.

A Church Service in honor of her life will be held at 10:00 AM Wednesday, August 20, 2014 at the First Baptist Church of Cartwright Bro. Ray Earley officiating and Bro. Troy Phillips. Interment will follow at Rosehill Cemetery Calera, Oklahoma. The pallbearers will be Marie's beloved grandsons.
