Services for Arthur Ray Maddox, 84, Platter, who died Monday, April 19, 2010, at the Medical Center of Southeastern Oklahoma in Durant, will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Cartwright Baptist Church. Rev. Ray Earley will officiate.

Arthur was born on Tuesday, May 20, 1925, in Utica to George Leonard and Lecy (Carter) Maddox. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Cartwright. He was owned and operator of Platter Fence Company. He loved to do yard work, puzzles and go fishing. He served in the U.S. Army and WPA.

Arthur was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Floyd and A.J. Maddox and sister Myrtle Gibson.

He is survived by his wife Ottie Maddox of the home; son Larry Maddox and wife Carol, McKinney, Texas; daughters Dixie Washer and husband Terry, Cartwright, and Melody Dill and husband James, Boswell; grandchildren Kerrie Barton, Richardson, Texas, Gregory Maddox, McKinney, Texas, Candice Wesley, Durant, Chelsea Hiatt, Cartwright, Heather Taylor, Cartwright, Justin Pruitt, Durant, Amber Pruitt, Calera, James and Jacob Dill II, both of Boswell, Tessa Sloan, Kingston, and Tessa Sloan, Kingston; 11 great-grandchildren, and many relatives and other friends.

Family hour will be held today at 6-7 p.m. at Coffey-Murray Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Rosehill Cemetery, Calera. Gregory Maddox, Nathan Barton, Paul Wesley, George Hiatt, Brad Taylor and Justin Pruitt will serve as pallbearers.
