Ellen Joyce Wheeler Brown Sanchez peacefully passed away on May 23, 2014.

A beloved wife, mother, sister, and friend, Joyce was a true source of happiness and strength to those who knew her. She bravely faced the challenge of Alzheimer's Disease by making certain all of her family and friends knew without a doubt how much she loved them.

Born in Poplar, Idaho on June 7, 1933, Joyce was the tenth of eleven children born to Etsel and Fay Wheeler. Joyce loved spending time with her sisters: they were her best friends.

A talented musician, Joyce shared the gift of music with her family and friends, teaching piano lessons for many years, directed church choirs, and singing at every opportunity.

Joyce lived a life of service: she proudly served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict and as a civil servant for many years. Throughout her life Joyce served in many callings in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, but her greatest service was mother.

Joyce is survived by her husband, Ted Sanchez; her children, Sabra Richins (Scott), Cristi Millard (Art), Tammy O'Neal (Randie), Tracy Brown, Jennifer Morrow (Tony), Heather Brown (Jimmy), Scott Brown (Andi), Gary Sanchez (Stacy), and Dianna McKune (Tim); twenty-one grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and her sisters, Fern Fillmore (Wayne) and Connie Call (Dennis); as well as a myriad of nieces and nephews, all of whom she adored.

We would like to thank Legacy Village for the gentle care they so lovingly provided to Joyce during her last five years. Particularly to Megan and Martha, we thank you for your kindness to mom; you were with her the whole way. She loved you; you helped to make a difficult situation bearable.

A viewing will be held in the Perry Ward House, 285 2nd West, Ririe, Idaho, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, May 30, 2014. Her funeral services will be held in the same location on Saturday, May 31, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. Friends and family may visit prior to the services from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m.
Joyce will be buried alongside her parents at the Ririe-Shelton Cemetery in Ririe, Idaho.
