Our Dad, Theodore Alva Sanchez was born on July 1,1932 in Denver, CO and passed away on May 15, 2016 in Salt Lake City, UT.
In youth, his parents joined the LDS Church and Ted began a lifetime of service. A Veteran of the Korean Conflict, Ted attended college in San Francisco before joining the Air Force. Afterward he became a Civil Servant and worked with the Department of the Army until his retirement in 1992. Ted and Joyce served two Temple Service Missions in the Chicago, IL and Nauvoo Temples.
Ted loved music- everything from Glen Miller to Blondie, playing board games, feeding missionaries, animals, spending time outdoors, particularly laying on freshly mowed grass, and playing practical jokes. He loved BYU sports and was passionate about Cougar Football. He could fix anything, including broken hearts and spirits) and was always tinkering- usually on a car. Ted was a voracious reader and enjoyed his friends in the Golden Living Retirement community where he served on the Residents' Board. Ted was also a fighter, overcoming polio as a child, heart problems, a kidney transplant (thank you, Paula Christensen!), cancer and being a parent to 16 children.
Ted remained active in the LDS Church all his life, serving as a teacher, youth leader and Branch President as well as in various other callings. His life was his family and his legacy the love and service he gave to anyone in need.
