NOAH HAULSEY BLANKENSHIP, 84 years of age of Abingdon, VA, passed away Saturday, November 26, 2005 at his residence following an extended illness. Born in Panther, WV, he was the son of the late Harrison and Lydia Blankenship. He spent most of his life in Hurley, VA until sharing his retirement years between Okeechobee, FL, and Abingdon. He was of the Protestant Faith, The Proprietor of A & N Coal Co, The Village Center Mobile Home Sales and the Village Country Store & Trailer Park. He was a member of the United States Armed Forces serving with the United States Marine Corp during World War II and served in the South Pacific Area receiving the Good Conduct Medal. Mr. Blankenship loved hunting and fishing.

He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Alice Mae Blankenship of Abingdon, VA

Three daughters: Patricia Marino, Ripley, WV; Sonya Justus, Hurley, VA; Delilah O’Quinn, Abingdon, VA; Two sons:Donya “Tanker” Blankenship,Hurley, VA; Darwin Eli Blankenship; Land O’Lakes, FL; One sister: Elsie Bailey, Premiere, WV; One dear cousin whom he considered as a brother, Waverly Osborne of Okeechobee, FL

He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 12 Great-Grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harrison and Lydia Blankenship, one infant daughter – Diana Lynn Blankenship, one grandson - Joseph Michael Marino, 5 sisters – Virgie Crockett, Pearl Stacy, Meade Yates, Frances Stacy and Mary Carter.

Funeral services for NOAH HAULSEY BLANKENSHIP will be conducted Monday, November 28, 2005 at 2:00 P.M. at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel with Revs. Darrell Davis, Doug Blankenship and Bill Frazier officiating with burial to follow in the Greenhills Memory Garden at Claypool Hill, Virginia.

Friends may call at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel after 6:00 P.M. Sunday and there will be an evening service at 7:00 P.M.

Full military rites will be conducted at the cemetery by members of the John Ratliff Post #164 of the American Legion.

Active Pallbearers will be members of the John Ratliff Post #164 of the American Legion.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Derek Noah Blankenship (grandson), John Tickles, Garrett Thacker, Allen West, Jamie Paulie, Ray Asbury, Ray Viers, Junior Asbury, Freddie Pannell, Stanley Blankenship, Bob Steele and Joe Roger Bailey. Two very special friends will be serving as Ushers – Waverly Osborne and Eli Blankenship Jr.
