ABINGDON, Va. Alice M. Blankenship, 84, passed away on Friday, November 20, 2015, at Abingdon Health and Rehab. She was born in McDowell County, W.Va., daughter of the late Charles Phillips and Myrtle Blaylock Phillips Strickland. Alice loved to fish, cook, and play cards. She attended Rosedale Baptist Church services at Abingdon Health and Rehab Center. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Noah Blankenship; infant daughter, Diana Blankenship; sisters Nell Mawall and Shirley Asbury; and brothers, Charles Phillips Jr. and Johnny Strickland. Mrs. Blankenship is survived by her sons, Donya "Tanker" Blankenship of Hurley, Va., and Darwin Eli Blankenship and wife, Anita, of Land O'Lakes, Fla.; her daughters, Sonya B. Justus of Hurley, Va., and Delilah O'Quinn and husband, J.D., of Abingdon; sisters, Lexie Rose of Cleveland, Ohio, and Marie Pannell of Falls Mill, Va.; eight grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. The funeral service for Alice M. Blankenship will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday, November 22, 2015, at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service with Brother Greg Sanders officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. There will be a private graveside service at Green Hills Memory Gardens on Monday.
