Mabel L. "Betty" Reinert, 96. of Elgin, died Tuesday, June 16, at Ashwood Healthcare Center, Elgin.
She was born May 19, 1896, in Genoa, the daughter of Floyd and Christina Bolsker [Holsker] Brown.
She was a former U.S. postmaster of South Elgin and had retired from the Elgin Post Office in 1970. She was a former member of St. Mary's Church, Elgin.
Survivors include a son, Donald Reinert, of Clermont, Fla.; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Besides her parets she was preceded in death by her husband, Matthew C. Reinert, in 1936; three sons, Robert J., John and Matthew, Jr.; and two sisters, Irene Klabunde and Elizabeth Crichton.
Prayer services will be Friday at 9:40 a.m. at O'Connor and Homeier Funeral Home, then on to St. Mary's Church for a 10 a.m. Mass, the Rev. Michael Binsfeld officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Elgin.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home, with a Rosary at 7 p.m.
