Ray served in the U.S. Navy during WW II. He farmed in the Alta and Schaller areas. He enjoyed softball, bowling, and golfing. He was a member of VFW Post #4704 of Schaller and he served on the church and elevator boards. In 1990 he married Lillian Swanson in Alta.
