Obituary - Leonard Scherpenisse, and old and respected citizen of West Sayville, died of old age on Monday night at his home on West Street, after a long illness. The deceased was 82 years old, 8 months and 13 days and was a native of Holland, coming to American 28 years ago. Mr. Scherpenisse is survived by his wife and four sons, Johannes, Leonard Jr., William and Edward Scherpenisse and two daughters, Mrs. Adrian Hoek and Mrs. William Kwaak, of West Sayville and one brother, William Scherpenisse of Bayport. The funeral services were held in the Christian Reformed Church yesterday at two o'clock, the Rev. J.H. Haarsma, officiating. The interment was in Union Cemetery, Sayville.

Leendert Scherpenisse was a son of Lambregt Scherpenisse (1773-1844) and Prijntje Bolijn (1788-1873).
