William Henry Harrison Gentry was the son of James C. & Nancy Crews Gentry. He married Lucy Ann Taylor, the daughter of Thomas & Samira Portwood Taylor, on April 7, 1864 in Estill County. The couple were the parents of Charles, George, Jacob, Olive, Sadella (Sue Della), Taylor, William, Shelby, Mollie and Ivy Gentry.

Mr. Gentry supported his large family by farming his own land. He passed away from the effects of an intracranial hemorrhage, due to arteriosclerosis, and complicated by the debilities of old age.
