Lucy was the daughter of Thomas & Samira Portwood Taylor. She married William H. Gentry, the son of James C. & Nancy Crews Gentry, on April 7, 1864. The marriage ceremony took place at her parents' home, in Estill County. The couple were the parents of Charles, George, Jacob, Olive, Sadella (Sue Della), Taylor, William, Shelby, Mollie and Ivy Gentry. Mrs. Gentry passed away from the effects of valvular heart disease.
