Hurst, Rev. Simeon W. ~ Peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, passed into the presence of his Lord and Saviour on Tuesday, January 7, 2014 at Cambridge Memorial Hospital, at the age of 100 years. Simeon was the beloved husband of his late first wife Edna (Schmiedendorf) and his late second wife Jean (Davis). Lovingly remembered by his children Nancy Hurst of Toronto, Mary and Harvey Frey of Cambridge, Elwood and Marjorie Hurst of Schomberg, Ruth and David Rice of Waterdown, and by Jean's children David and Janet Kipe of Pennsylvania, and Sheila Kipe of Ohio. Simeon will be missed by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Brother of Lydia Anne Bauman of Cambridge. Predeceased by his parents Daniel and Annie (Weber) Hurst, seven brothers and three sisters. Simeon and Edna served in East Africa for 26 years as missionaries under the Eastern Mennonite Board of Missions and Charities, as well as pastored in the Hawkesville Mennonite Church and Bethel Mennonite Church. The family will receive their relatives and friends at the Fairview Mennonite Home, Cambridge on Friday, January 10, 2014 from 2-4 p.m. and then at the Dreisinger Funeral Home, Elmira from 7-9 p.m. A funeral service will be held at the Elmira Mennonite Church on Saturday, January 11, 2014 at 11 a.m. Spring interment will take place in Hagey Cemetery, Cambridge. In Simeon's memory, donations to Eastern Mennonite Missions would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.
