Mrs. N.H. Clayton, 80, pioneer settler of this county, passed away October 5th. Funeral services were held Friday, October 7th, at four PM at the Falmouth Advent Church with Rev. Burr A.L. Bixler in charge of the last rites. Interment was in the family lot of the Mt. Gilead Cemetery. Mrs. Clayton had lived in Suwannee County most of her life, residing near Falmouth. About 12 years ago she left her native county for St. Petersburg where she made her home with her children. Nine children survive. Five daughters, Mrs. Alice Barnhill, Punta Gorda, Mrs. Jennie Tison, St. Petersburg, Mrs. Rosa Sirmons, Sanford, Mrs. Verna Carver, Branford and Mrs. Emma Bracher, Bradenton; and four sons, C.M. Clayton, Live Oak, L.H. Clayton, Miami, and M.P. and F.E. Clayton, both of St. Petersburg, are among the survivors. Two brothers, J.N. Cannon, Falmouth and Sheriff Perry B. Cannon are other survivors. A large number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and friends also mourn her demise.
