P.M. ``Diddle'' Hooper, 82, of 805 Country Club Drive, died Wednesday, Jan. 14, 1998, at Annie Penn Hospital.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 16, 1998, at First Presbyterian Church. Interment will follow at Reidlawn Cemetery.

Mr. Hooper was a native of Clintwood, Va. and a member of First Presbyterian Church, where he served as a deacon. He was the co-founder of Hooper & Moore, Inc. He was a member of the Lions' Club, a 32nd degree Mason and a member of the Jefferson Penn Masonic Lodge 384 AF & AM, and also a director of First Savings Bank. He was the former chairman of the United Way Drive, president of Carolina-Virginia Clothiers Association and served as the past president of Reidsville Merchants Association. He was a veteran of U.S. Army Air Corps serving during WWII.

He is survived by his wife, Helen P. ``Moe'' Hooper of the home; daughter, Pattie Hooper of Reidsville; son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Amy Hooper of Martinsville, Va.; grandchildren, Ben C. and Phillip H. Barbee; Elizabeth Rankin; Mary Miles and Lucy Price Hooper; brother, Joseph Hooper and wife, Flossie of Reidsville; sisters, June Hooper Goodes; Dorothy Hooper Link and Betty Hooper Stocks; all of Reidsville. He was preceded in death by his son, Phillip M. Hooper, Jr.

The family will receive friends at the residence.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Presbyterian Church, 318 S. Main Street, Reidsville, NC 27320 or the Salvation Army, 704 Barnes Street, Reidsville, NC 27320.

Wilkerson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
