Memorial services will be conducted 4 p.m. Monday, February 5, at First Presbyterian Church. Inturnment will be in the church columbarium.
A native of Coburn, Va., he was a son of the late Pink M. and Della Tate Hooper and had lived in Reidsville most of his life. He was the owner/operator of Pink M. Hooper Insurance Agency for many years and was a World War II Army Veteran. A member of First Presbyterian Church, he was a member of the Rockingham Lake Fishing Club, Pennrose Park Country Club, and was a member of the City of Reidsville Planning Board for many years.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Phillip M. "Diddle" Hooper and William Franklin "Frank" Hooper and two sisters, June H. Goodes and Dorothy H. Link.
Surviving are his wife, Flora McIntyre "Flossie" Hooper of the home; two daughters, Jane H. Harrill and husband, David of Reidsville, Dell H. Barbee and husband, Cliff of Reidsville; son, Phillip M. Hooper and wife, Tamara of Raleigh; eight grandchildren, Joseph T. Harrill, Anna C. Harrill, Ben C. Barbee, Phillip H. Barbee, Katherine L. McKinney, Rick McKinney, Steven M.. Hooper, and Sarah E. Hooper; sister, Betty H. Stocks of Reidsville.
The family will see friends at the residence, 1019 Oakcrest Dr., Reidsville.
