William Mills, son of Luke and Annie Mills, a paper maker born in Needham, Norfolk, Massachusetts, in 1799, died April 3, 1879 in Chelsea, Massachustters; and
Mary Ann Severaine (born in Maine, circa 1799).
Find A Grave memorials for William and Mary could not be found as of the date of this writing in December, 2013.
The maiden name of George's mother is somewhat debatable. The name Mary Ann Severaine is clearly discernible from the Wellesley, Norfolk, Vital Record of George's death (see the crop from that death record here on his memorial, taken from the Massachusetts Vital Records, 1841-1910, Volume 392, page 326). But her maiden name is listed as Mary E. Cooper in the Newton, Middlesex, Massachusetts Vital Record of the death of his brother Francis Mills. This writer believes that the former name most likely is correct given the large number of references to Mary A. Mills in the vital records pertaining to most of the children of William and Mary Mills.
George Mills of Newton and Mary Elizabeth Fox of Roxbury entered their intentions in Newton, Middlesex, Massachusetts on June 9, 1852 to be married.
The cause of his death was "Phthisis" according to the Wellesley, Norfolk, Massachusetts Vital Record of his death. His occupation at the time of his death according to that vital record was "Bookkeeper."
His age at the time of death according to that vital record was 60 years, 11 months and 1 day. That places the date of his birth on April 29, 1827, contrary to the year indicated on his grave marker. That year of birth is confirmed by a Newton Vital Record of his birth. This memorial reflects the year of birth indicated by those vital records as being the more credible documentation of the year of his birth.
