Hoover Funeral Held Thursday

Final rites for W. H. Hoover, 73, who died suddenly Tuesday, were conducted from Burnham-Wood Funeral home Thursday afternoon. Rev Kenneth Rumppe, pastor of Wesleyan Methodist church, officiated, and interment was in West Union cemetery.
William Henry Hoover, son of Jacob and Harriet Joslin Hoover, was born December 9, 1883, in Dover township. There he grew to manhood and farmed most of his life. In recent years he was employed by the county and by the fair association.
He was united in marriage with Christina Overhus in August of 1907. To them were born a son, Jacob, Elgin; seven daughters, Barbara Winter, Mrs. Raymond Mays and Clara, West Union; Mrs. Laverne Gibson and Mrs. Arthur Nesteby, Waterloo; and Mrs. Elmer Sorenson, Ossian, and Mrs. Carl Adolphson, Ottawa, Kan.
He was united in marriage to Georgie Robinson in 1944. To them were born two sons, Billie and George.
Surviving besides his wife and children are eight grandchildren, four sisters and two brothers, Mrs. Eva Torson, Cedar Rapids; Mrs. Fred Knight and Ray Hoover, West Union; Mrs. Ruth Voehl, Cedar Rapids; Charles Hoover, Waterloo, and Mrs. Grace Dorland, Fort Pierce, Fla.. Both parents, two brothers and a sister preceded him in death.
