Wife of Morgan J Magness, who was son of James Washington Magness (1789-1872) & Narcissa (Barnett) Magness (1796-1862.
Melvina's is one of the now unreadable stones. An older cemetery record (pre 1985?) stated: "The old Magness graves are built up with field stones with a large flat stone completely covering the top of the grave. The names and dates are chiseled on, moss covered, and very hard to read." Then there was a list of 6 names under this description.
Samuel Magness (1836-1862)
Joseph Magness (1839-1852)
John Magness (unable to read dates)
William Magness (1831-185_)
Joseph Magness (1822-1857)
Melvina Magness (February 10, 1828 – June 28, 1858)

The first four names listed above are Morgan Jefferson Magness's siblings who all died fairly young. John (Newton) Magness, the unreadable one, was born in 1822 and died in 1851 in Marion Co. Ark. The Joseph Magness, who's birth and death dates are 1822-1857, is the son of Joseph Magness b. 1790, and who is the brother of James Washington Magness, father of Morgan J. Magness, Melvina's husband.

Children of Melvina and Morgan Jefferson Magness are:
Martha Ellen Magness b. 1853
Elzada Belle Magness/Barham b. 1855
Tilford Deaton Magness b. 1856

All three were born in Marion Co. Arkansas

In 1860 Morgan J. Magness married Julia Ann Greenlee and had 8 more children. Julia Ann Magness, in a lot of articles, is listed as the mother of Melvina's 3 children. I'm sure she was a great step-parent and the only mother they really knew.
