The community was called upon last Friday to mourn with the family of Neil McMillan when it was learned that the husband and father had passed away. Neil McMillan was born in Argyle, Scotland, in 1837, and when but a boy of 16 came to this country where he has since resided. After coming to Nebraska he settled first in Omaha, from which place he removed to DeSoto and in 1871 took up his residence in Blair, since which time he has been an honorable citizen, enterprising and loyal to everything pertaining to the city government. Before he left Scotland he was baptized into the Free church.

Last winter Mr. McMillan suffered from an attack of the grip, and from its effects he never recovered, the direct cause of his death being quick consumption. He had been up and around until only a week prior to his death, and the family did not realize that the end was so near.

He was a good neighbor and a true friend. He leaves a wife and seven children, five daughters and two sons, who all reside in Blair. A brother, Dan McMillan, and family from Omaha were in attendance at the funeral. The coffin was profusely covered with the ? of sympathy sent by the many friends of the family. A large number of friends accompanied all that was ? of Neil McMillan in this last resting place. The family have the sympathy of the entire city in the loss of the husband and father.
