Bessie Louise Chambers Wood, of Burleson, Johnson County, Texas, passed away on Tuesday, 02 January 2007, in Fort Worth. She was 81.

Mrs. Wood was born on Friday, 02 October 1925, to Forrest Bedford Chambers, Sr. and Dora Izella "Della" Johnson Chambers, in Sidney, Comanche County, Texas. She was the last of twelve children born to this union.

She was united in marriage to Jesse Dever Wood on Saturday, 07 August 1943. Mr. Wood survives Bessie. They were married 63 years. To their union were born five children: daughter Jane Elizabeth Wood, son Richard Berton Wood, daughter Diann Wood, son John David Wood, and son Donald Bedford Wood.

Bessie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved to make a home for her family and loved her children very much. She was a strong believer and a devout Christian. Bessie was a great cook. She loved gardening and flowers and doing needlework. She will be missed by all who loved and cared for her.

Mrs. Wood was preceded in death by her parents, infant brother William Perry Chambers, brother Jesse Brinson Chambers, sister Rubie May Chambers, sister Pearl Leona Chambers, sister Jewel Francis Chambers, sister Clara Opal Chambers, sister Anna Bell Chambers, brother Forest Bedford Chambers, Jr., and brother Henry Frederick Chambers.

She is survived by her husband, of the home, daughter Jane Branum McKnight and husband Bennie, of Denton, Denton County, Texas, daughter Diann Robertson and husband Dale, of Cleburne, Johnson County, Texas, son Richard Wood and wife Gayla, of Arlington, Tarrant County, Texas, John David Wood of Bogota, Red River County, Texas, son Donnie Wood and wife Sheri, of Crowley, Tarrant County, Texas, sister Mattie Lorene Chambers Lemons of Burleson, Tarrant County, Texas, sister Maggie Lucille Chambers Phillips of Monahans, 12 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren.
