Alfred Dockter son of Heinrich and Katherina (Meidinger) Dockter was born July 9, 1928 at rural Zeeland, ND. He attended school near the family farm thru 8th grade. Alfred was united in marriage with Elaine Deile April 6, 1953 at St. James Lutheran Church rural Wishek, ND. Alfred and Elaine farmed 11 miles north of Zeeland, ND, along Beaver Creek. Alfred was a friend to any animal. He especially loved horses and his dog, Wolfer. He loved spending time with his family. Alfred greeted everyone with a smile. He was a kind, sweet, patient, hardworking and faithful man. Alfred was a wonderful husband, dad, grandfather, brother, neighbor and friend. He was an excellent dancer. Alfred and Elaine Square danced, enjoyed traveling, attending sporting events of family. He enjoyed watching the Twins and Vikings. Special to Alfred were listening to polka music, singing in the choir, making hay and working with cattle. After their retirement from the farm they moved to Wishek where Alfred enjoyed working part time at the Senior Center and spending time gardening. Alfred often shared memories of swimming in Beaver Creek which ran through the farm he was raised on. Alfred sang in the Men's Choir at St. Luke Lutheran Church. Alfred and Elaine sang in the German Choir at St. Andrews and at St. Luke Lutheran Church.
Alfred died Tuesday, August 6, 2013 at the Wishek Community Hospital, Wishek, ND under the care of Prairieview Hospice of Wishek. He was 85 years old.
Alfred is lovingly survived by his wife Elaine of 60 years, Wishek, ND; one daughter, Deb (Tom) Albrecht, Fargo, ND; five sons, Tim (Rhonda) Dockter, Linton, ND; Kevin (Julie) Dockter, Riverdale, ND; Cameron (Shannon) Dockter, Fargo, ND; Joel (Becky) Dockter, Aberdeen, SD; Jeff (Kelley) Dockter, Bismarck, ND; 17 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren and one sister, LaVerna (Clifton) Kaseman, Wishek, ND.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, David, Otto, Melvin, Rueben, Harry and Walter; sisters, Helen Just and Viola Aipperspach.
