Mrs. Bartlett was born on January 10, 1913 to the late Lena and John Comer, Sr. She embraced life with laughter, love and compassion and will be greatly missed by all of those fortunate enough to have been blessed by her love and friendship. During World War II "Aunt Lu" joined the military effort by working at Aberdeen Proving Ground. She was a devoted wife, loving mother and dedicated member of Porters Grove Missionary Baptist Church.
She is survived by a sister, Pearl Schofield of Largo, Fla.; her nephew, companion and caregiver, Donald Comer of Oxford, Pa.; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William E. "Bill" Bartlett; a son, Norman Edward; two daughters, Joyce Elaine and Kathleen; 5 brothers, Garnet, Clarence, John, Claude and Ernest and 1 sister, Mayme Hill.
Friends and family may call from 7 to 9 p.m. on Monday, May 9, 2005 at R. T. Foard Funeral Home, P.A., 111 S. Queen St., Rising Sun, Md. 21911. A service will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, May 10, 2005 at Porters Grove Baptist Church, Connelly Road, Conowingo, Md., with Rev. Mack Arnold officiating. Burial will follow in Oxford Cemetery in Oxford, Pa.
