Annie Pearl Comer Schofield, 98, of Largo, Florida, formerly of Conowingo, Maryland, entered Heaven's pearly gates on October 16, 2006.

The daughter of the late John Friel Comer, Sr. and Lena Mae Loflen Comer. Pearl was born in Damascus, Virginia on July 14, 1908. When she was a child her family moved to Maryland where her father worked in construction building the Conowingo Dam. She lived in Maryland and Pennsylvania while she was married to the late Frank Ralph Schofield, her husband of 41 years, until his death in 1983. In her later years she moved to Placerville, California to live with her only child, the late Mae Wilson.

A devout member of Porter's Grove Missionary Baptist Church for many years, she attended Placerville Heights Baptist Church in California and then Gray's Christian Fellowship in Largo, Florida, where she lived for the final three and a half years of her life. She was cared for there by Robert Hathaway, a nephew whom she helped raise. His daughter, Shawndell Sisler of Largo, was also instrumental in her care.

With no formal training, Pearl was a talented artist who created beautiful paintings for her friends and family. "Aunt Pearl", as she was known to many, was loved by all who knew her for her kind and generous spirit and sweet smile. She was a true Christian in every sense of the word.

In addition to her husband and daughter, she was preceded in death by her siblings - Garnet, Mayme, Clarence, Lucille, John and Claude.

She is survived by one grandson, Mark Wilson of California, many nieces, nephews and other relatives.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 28 at Porter's Grove Missionary Baptist Church, 475 Connelly Rd., Conowingo, with the Rev. Timothy Brown officiating. Friends and family may call one hour prior to service. Interment will follow at Oxford Cemetery in Oxford, Pennsylvania.
