Jerry was born Oct. 22, 1935 in Bucyrus to the late Ray Arland and Naomi May (Morton) Volkmer.
He was married to his High School Sweetheart, Karen (Kline) Volkmer on Oct. 22, 1955 and she preceded him in death on July 25, 2012.
In addition to his parents and wife, Jerry was preceded in death by son, Bret on March 22, 2013 and sister, Dorothy Rowland.
Jerry is survived by son and daughter in law, Brad and Kathy Volkmer of Huntsville, AL; granddaughter, Terra Sandlin and husband Kenny of Herndon Virginia; great grandchildren, Klaire and Quinn Sandlin; niece Sharon Hildreth; and nephews, Robert, Terry, and Randy Rowland; as well as many cousins and dear friends.
Jerry graduated from Bucyrus High School in 1954 and retired from Timken May 1, 1990. He was a real estate agent for several years with Walt Joseph Realty as well as an appraiser and auctioneer. Jerry was a longtime member of the Bucyrus Rotary Club and was instrumental in the success of the Rotary Auction fest.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the Munz-Pirnstill Funeral Home where services will be held on Thursday at 11:00 am with Rev. Steve Voelker officiating, burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery.
The family suggests memorials be made to the Bucyrus Rotary Club or the Crawford County Humane Society.
