Eugene O. "Brush" Richotte, 77, died Sunday (5/20/12) at his home. He was born in Montague on November 29, 1934, the son of Rene and Ida (Gagne) Richotte. He attended local schools in Montague and was a graduate of Turners Falls
High School. He served in the Korean Conflict with the US Army then served in Vietnam with the US Navy.
Brush was a Patrolman and Police Detective for the Town of Montague for 30 years before retiring in 1995. He was a life member of the Montague Elks Lodge 2521.
Brush loved motorcycle and snowmobile racing and especially enjoyed going to race tracks all over the country. Brush and Ellie traveled often and were able to visit every state. He had a wonderful sense of humor and enjoyed a good practical joke. When with family and friends he could often be found playing pitch.
He was predeceased by his wife, the former Eleanor "Ellie" Guilbault on March 5, 2011, two brothers, Roland and Jerry Richotte and a sister Jackie Tuminski. Among his survivors, Brush leaves a son Robert J. Escott, Jr. and his partner Sue Beckwith of Greenfield; three daughters, Cherie A. Cloutier and her husband Peter of Turners Falls, Cindy York and her husband Mike of Toccoa, GA, Jane Gagebin and her husband Brian of Pasco, WA; nine grandchildren; four great grandchildren; five brothers, Charlie, Curt and Donny Richotte all of Turners Falls, Joe Richotte of Florida and Jim Richotte of New York, four sisters, Claire Jablonski, Carol Krol and Phyllis Voudren, all of Turners Falls and Chris Garbiel of Kentucky; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services Thursday (5/24/12) at the Kostanski Funeral Home, Turners Falls with the Rev. Stanley J. Aksamit officiating. Burial at the convenience of the family.
