Death of Riley P. Perkins Saturday

Well Known Hawkins Resident Passes Away at Advanced Age

Riley P. Perkins was born in Providence, Rhode Island, Jan. 10, 1853 and passed away July 24th, at his home in Hawkins after a few hours illness, at the age of 73 years, 6 months and 14 days. With his parents he moved to Granby, Mo., and Jun 22, 1884 was united in marriage to Mathilda Munger. To this union seven children were born, all of whom survive and were present during his last hours. In 1916 he moved with his family to Hawkins where he has since resided. He was a loving, faithful husband and father. When 18 years of age he was baptized and joined the Christian church.

He leaves to mourn his departure a wife, four sons and three daughters: Bert and Clarence until recently of Bellingham, Wash., Arthur of Boyd, Mrs. Cora Huss of Ft. Wayne, Ind., Mrs. J.B. King, James and Gladys, of Hawkins. Other relatives from Richland Center: Mrs. Frank Karney and Bert Perkins, his brother's children.

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon, July 27th, at two o'clock at the M.E. church, Rev. E.E. Strevey of Shell Lake officiating. Interment was made in the Hawkins cemetery.
