Henrietta Roberts, 84, of Girard, died at 12:03 a.m. Sunday, March 26, 2000, at the Girard District Hospital. She had been in failing health for the past year. She was born June 18, 1915, at Arma, to Ora and Jessie Sullivan Roberts. She moved with her family to Girard at an early age. She grew up and attended schools in Girard, graduating from Girard High School in 1933.
She attended the Kansas State Teacher's College, Pittsburg. After graduation, she taught in area schools. She taught at Girard schools from 1941 until her retirement in 1980. She also served as school librarian.
Ms. Roberts was a member of the United Methodist Church, Girard.
Survivors include a sister, Mary Schiller of Oskalossa, three nephews, Ed Roberts and Joey Roberts, both of Girard, and Howell Hoskinson, of Lawrence, who all provided for her care; a niece; and numerous great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Harold Roberts, on April 9, 1995.
Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Girard Cemetery. The Rev. Lucille Barb will officiate. Arrangements are under the direction of the Smith-Carson-Wall Funeral Home, Girard.
