A funeral for Lawrence Lorin Berkey of Amity will be held at 1 p.m. Monday in the Sheridan Mennonite Church, with the Rev. James Eigsti officiating.

Vault interment will be in the Willamina Mennonite Cemetery.

Mr. Berkey died June 5, 2000, in Willamette Valley Medical Center, McMinnville. He was 90.

He was born July 25, 1909, in Aurora.

He and Fannie B. Smith were married March 6, 1932, in Sheridan.

He lived most of his life in the Sheridan area. He helped set concrete pillars for the Works Progress Administration bridge project in Sheridan. Mr. Berkey had worked at U.S. Plywood, Oregon Alder-Maple Co. and several other mills in the Sheridan area. He also farmed.

He loved hunting and fishing and enjoyed helping his neighbors. He was a longtime member of the Sheridan Mennonite Church.

Survivors include six sons, Arlen Berkey of McMinnville, Elmer Berkey of Rickreall, Allen Berkey of Sheridan, Gilbert Berkey of Amity, Noah Berkey of Whiteson and Albert Berkey of Albany; two daughters, Roberta Stutzman of Sheridan and Joyce McMillan of Salem; a brother, Ivan Berkey of Portland; 36 grandchildren; 70 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife in 1993.

Arrangements are under the direction of Adamson's Sheridan Funeral Home.
