He was born on a farm south of the St. Joseph church at Egypt on Aug 6, 1867, to Joseph and Catharine Brandewie Bornhorst. He was the youngest of a family of ten children.
He was united in marriage to Catharine Westerheide at St. Joseph church on Nov 10, 1889. Five sons and three daughters survive, Joseph and Edwin of Minster, Vincent of Egypt, Paul of Philothea, Ralph of Dayton, Mrs. Leonia Woehrmyer, east of Minster, Mrs. Alma Mader, Springfield, Oh., and Mrs Mary Fullenkamp, north of Minster. Also surviving is a brother, Frank of Fort Loramie, and a sister, Mrs. Anton Osterlohl of Egypt, and 22 grandchildren. One daughter died in infancy.
Funeral at St. Joseph church and internment at church cemetery.
