Funeral services for Gladys Mae Hindley, age 88 years, of Blair were Monday, May 22, at the First United Methodist Church in Blair. Dr. Howard Bailey officiated with burial in the Blair Cemetery.

Mrs. Hindley died May 20, 1989 at the Crowell Home in Blair.

Gladys Mae Hindley was born March 15, 1901 in Blair to William Harry Sappenfield and Arminta Gerhard. She was a graduate of Blair High School.

She married George D. Hindley at Ft. Crook, Nebraska on March 19, 1919. The first eight years of their marriage they farmed in the Ft. Calhoun area. They moved to a farm west of Herman, Nebraska where they lived until moving to Blair in 1968.

Gladys was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Blair and was active in youth activities. She is the last member of the Jolly Workers Club of which she was a Charter Member.

She is survived by her son, Lyle of Herman; daughters, Lorraine Schlichting of Beatrice, Nebraska, Margaret Henderson of Des Moines, Iowa. Six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Clyde Sappenfield of Blair, Walter Sappenfield of Ft. Calhoun, and Clarance Sappenfield of Denver, Colorado; and one sister, Francis Sweet of Cheyenne, Wyoming also survive her.
