F. Lorraine Schlichting, 94, of Ashland and formerly of Beatrice died at Oxbow Assisting Living in Ashland on Thursday, June 25, 2015. She was born on January 4, 1921 at Ft. Calhoun and graduated from Blair High School.
She received her B.A. Degree from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln and had attended graduate school at Notre Dame. She taught rural schools in Washington County as well as in Filley and Pickrell Public School Systems, retiring in 1983.
She married Walter Schlichting on May 21, 1942 at Yuma, AZ and they lived in several Nebraska communities before moving to Beatrice in 1956.
She was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church of Beatrice. She was also a member of the National, State and Filley Schools Associations. She enjoyed her home, spending time with friends, playing bridge and playing golf.
Survivors include one daughter, Linda Graham and husband Lee of Ashland; two sons, Russell Schlichting and wife Bonnie of Tucson, AZ and Thomas Schlichting and wife Leslie of Ashland; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Gladys Sappenfield Hindley and her husband Walter, who died on August 8, 2000; one brother, Lyle Hindley; one sister, Margaret Henderson.
Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, July 1, 2015 at 1:30 P.M. at Fox Funeral Home of Beatrice with Rev. Clifford Reynolds officiating.
Cremation has taken place. There will be no viewing. A memorial has been established to the family's choice. A guestbook for signatures will be available at Fox Funeral Home from 8:00 A.M. Tuesday until time of services on Wednesday.
