Vernon was born on January 6th, 1926 in O'Neill, Nebraska to Clarence and Charlotte (Mitchell) Hoxsie. Vernon served his country proudly as a member of the U.S. Army. On November 16th, 1944 he was united in marriage to his beloved wife Lorena Prawitz. Vernon and Lorena moved to Blair in 1957 and then to Kennard in 1970, and he woked for the Ralston Purina company for 32 and a half years before retiring. After he retired and Lorena retired from Campbells Soup, they spent several years making wooden crafts, which they sold at numerous craftshows.
Vernon was a member of the Blair VFW and the American Legion.
He is survived by his daughter Sandra "Sandie" Jack of Topeka, Kansas, son Terry W. (Priscilla) Hoxsie of Dell Rapids, South Dakota. Vernon and Lorena had numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grand children.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Lorena, son and daughter in law Vernon Leroy "Butch" and Barbara Ann Hoxsie, and brothers Neil, Raymond and Delbert Hoxsie.
