A memorial service for Lorena E. Hoxsie age 88 of Arbor Manor in Fremont, Nebraska, formerly of Kennard passed away peacefully in her sleep on April 6th, 2013. She will be missed greatly by her beloved husband Vernon, children, family and friends. A memorial service will be held at Campbell Aman Funeral home Tuesday April 9th at 11:00AM. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Following services a luncheon will be held at the Blair VFW Club.
Lorena was born on June 16th, 1924 at Royal, Nebraska, the daughter of Fred and Mary (Osmer) Prawitz. Lorena attended college and taught school in a small country school house.
Lorena married her husband of 68 years, Vernon on November 16th, 1944. They had three children. Vernon and Lorena moved to Blair in 1957 and then to Kennard in 1970. Lorena worked at Mode O Day and then at Campbell's Soup in Fremont. Once Vernon and Lorena retired they made wooden crafts for several years which they sold at various craft shows. She was a member of the V.F.W. and American Legion Auxiliary.
She is survived by her husband Vernon A Hoxsie, daughter Sandra "Sandie" Jack of Topeka, Kansas, son Terry W. (Priscilla) Hoxsie of Dell Rapids, South Dakota. Vernon and Lorena had numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, son and daughter in law Vernon Leroy "Butch" and Barbara Ann Hoxsie, sisters Bette M. Dahmen, Vivian Michaelson and Zama Prawitz.
