Robert A."Bob"Farrar, Corpsman, age76, of Joplin, passed away on April 4, 2013 after a long illness.

Bob was born April 6, 1936 in Highway Highlands, California, to the late Floyd Farrar and Kathleen West Farrar and had lived in the Joplin area the past 20 years.


He served in the United States Marine Corp and retired from the United States Navy after 22 years of service.He worked as a physician's assistant in the prison system in Atlanta GA. and in San Diego California. He also worked many years as a substance abuse counselor. His life was dedicated to serving others.


Bob was a faithful member of First Baptist Church, the D.A.V. of Joplin, the Marine Corp League, American Legion of Neosho, V.F.W. Post 534, and Joplin Lodge#335, AF &AM.


Bob married Jean Edwards on March 16, 1968 in Batavia, New York. Mrs. Jean Edwards Farrar survives him.


Additional survivors include children, Leland Lofgren, Kansas, Myron Lofgren, Brian Farrar, Murray Utah, one brother, Carl Farrar, OK. several grandchildren, several great grandchildren and several other extended family members.


In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by a daughter, Kaeleen Whitson and a grandson Robert Whitson.


Funeral Services were held at the First Baptist Church with Rev Jamie Tickel officiating. Graveside Services, with full Military Honors, were also held at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Springfield, Missouri.
