Leland H. Grabbe, 86, of Blair, died Tuesday, March 17, 2009, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Home.
Services will be 2 p.m. Friday, March 20, at Salem Lutheran Church in Fontanelle. Interment will be in the Fontanelle Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 19, with the family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m.; Friday, from 9 to 11 a.m., at Reckmeyer-Moser Funeral Home in Arlington; and at the church on Friday, one hour prior to services.

Leland H. Grabbe was born April 5, 1922, in Herman to Fred and Mary (Hovendick) Grabbe. He was a lifelong resident of the Herman area, where he farmed.

On March 11, 1944, he married Elaine M. Bradford at Fontanelle.

Mr. Grabbe was a member of Salem Lutheran Church and served as a member of the church council. He was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles No. 200 of Fremont for 35 years; served on the Spiker School board; was a member of the Riverview Grange and Kountry Kousins Square Dance Club; and was a former member of the Vacoma Church in rural Washington County.

He is survived by his wife, Elaine; sons and daughters-in-law, Jim and Diane Grabbe of Herman, Paul Grabbe of Blair, and Mark and Chris Grabbe of Blair; three daughters and sons-in-law, Peggy and Bob Frahm, Pat and Mike Sullivan, and Beth and Tom Moen Jr., all of Blair; 12 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sister, Dorothy Heinssen of Blair; brother-in-law, Jerry Bradford of Lincoln.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Hildred Wiese and Violet Babbitt; and four brothers, Marx, Edward, Bob and Bill Grabbe.
