Herbert J. Albers, 90, formerly of 306 Cassella-Montezuma Road, Maria Stein, died at 9:36 a.m. Sept. 2, 2003, at Celina Manor Nursing Home.

He was born Oct. 8, 1912, in North Star, to Henry and Mary Roetgerman Albers. On Oct. 1, 1938, he married Rose Stucke who is deceased.

Surviving are four sons, Walter (Marge) of Ames, Iowa, Morris (Marlene) of Osgood, Dennis (Len) of Cassella, and Mark (Karen) of Salem, Oregon; a daughter, Patricia (Stanley) Prenger, Anna; a brother, John (Regina) of St. Henry; two sisters, Marcella Burris, Cincinnati, and Joanne Peay, Worthington; 19 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.

Deceased are three brothers (Alfred, Edward, and possibly an infant brother?) and two sisters (Ida Albers Schaaf and Bertha Albers Wright),

He was a farmer and longtime member of the National Farmers Organization and charter member of the Mercer County Holstein Association. He was a member of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Cassella, and it's Men's Sodality.

Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the church, the Rev. Harry Cavannaugh officiating. Burial is at the church cemetery.

Calling is 2-8 p.m. Friday and 9-9:45 a.m. Saturday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Minster
