Walter Valentine Wachter, age 88, died Friday evening September 2, 1977, at his home in South Sioux City, Nebraska, following a brief illness. He was formerly of the Herman area.
Walter Valentine Wachter was born June 14, 1889, at Herman, Nebraska. He married Hannah K. Pedersen on October 7, 1914, at Logan, Iowa. He farmed all his life near Herman and Rosalie, Nebraska, before going to a farm near Jackson, Nebraska, in 1950. He served on the Parks School Board at Rosalie, Nebraska, for a number of years. He retired in 1967 and went to reside in South Sioux City in August of 1975.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Hannah, who died January 24, 1960, and by a twin brother, Clarence Wachter, of Herman, who died in 1950.
He is survived by two sons, Richard D. Wachter of Wausa, Nebraska and Rollin Wachter, Hubbard, Nebraska; one daughter, Mrs. Gunnar (Ione) Nelson of Rosalie, Nebraska; twelve grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were Wednesday, September 7, 1977, at 10:00 a.m., at the Jack E. Becker Funeral Home, South Sioux City, Nebraska. Reverend Joseph G. Werner, pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church, Walthill, Nebraska, officiated. Graveside services were Wednesday, September 7, 1977 at the Blair Nebraska Cemetery.
Pallbearers were John Kramper, Wayne Stark, Charles Nelson, Donald Dohma and Ernest Lieber.
