Alvina Rink, 100, died peacefully on Wednesday evening, March 6, 2013, at Jones Regional Medical Center, Anamosa, with her family holding her hand. Funeral Services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, March 9, at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, where friends may call after 10 a.m. Interment will be at Wayne Zion Cemetery. The Rev. Darryl Larson will officiate at the services.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.

Surviving are her daughter, Janice (Glen) Rickels, Monticello; six grandsons, Robert Lux, Bill Lux, Clavin (Megan) Rickels, Scott (Ranae) Rickels, Todd (Lisa) Rickles and Tom (Lisa) Rickels; 14 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Henry; a daughter, Joyce Lux; four brothers, Bill, Jack, Herny and Eddie; and six sisters, Ann, Kate, Mayme, Mate, Dena and Louise.

Alvina Gesine Rink was born Oct. 11, 1912, in Center Junction, Iowa, the daughter of Wilke and Gesche M. (Weers) Husmann. She attended the Center Junction Schools. Alvina married Henry J. Rink on Aug. 17, 1932, at Wayne Zion Lutheran Church. Alvina worked at Reliance Shirt Factory in Anamosa. For 35 years she was employed at John McDonald Hospital in the housekeeping department. Henry preceded her in death on Nov. 3, 1995.

Alvina was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church and the Martha Mary Circle. She loved to play cards with her friends at Sycamore Gardens. She enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She made each one a quilt for their wedding and when every baby was born.
