Funeral services for Dewey P. (Dude) Herron, 84, of Baxter, will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 23, from the chapel of Dyer Funeral Home. Burial will be in Judd Cemetery in the Bethlehem Community of Putnam County.

The family will receive friends after 4:30 today, Oct. 22, at the funeral home.

Mr. Herron died on Tuesday, Oct. 20, 1998, at Alvin C. York Veterans Administration Hospital in Murfreesboro.

He was born on Sept. 21, 1914, in Putnam County to the late Albert P. and Lona Bell Coleman Herron. Mr. Herron was a retired electrician. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II.

His family includes three sisters, Clara Thomas of Cookeville, Mamie Parks of Knoxville, and Carrie Cobb of Shelbyville; a brother, Ewin Herron of Baxter; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a sister, Cordie Dunson.

Bro. Joseph C. Britt Jr. will officiate at the services.
