Ronald Elmo Andersen 64, of Rigby, passed away Monday, January 7, 2013 at his home, after a long battle with lung cancer.

He was born February 16, 1948 in Rigby, to Joseph Elmo Andersen and June Niederer Andersen, and was the oldest of 8 children. He graduated from Rigby High School in 1966 then continued his education at Wyoming Technical Institute, earning his degree as Master Mechanic in 1967. He then enlisted in the United States Army in 1968. He served a tour in Vietnam and was discharged with honors on February 27, 1974. He married his wife, Tami Lindner, of 28 years on April 9, 1984 in Green River, Wyoming; they were blessed with three sons. He was a wonderful grandfather to 6 grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Tami Andersen, of Rigby, sons, Aron R. Andersen, of Williston, North Dakota, Scott (Crystal) Andersen, of Ashton, Tim J. Andersen, of Rigby, 6 grandchildren, sisters, Jolene (Bill) Hartleben, of Menan, Renell (Roy) Patterson, of Aurora, Colorado, Lauren Gunderson, of Menan, brothers, LaMonte (Tina) Andersen, of Rigby, Vern Andersen, of Rigby, Rod Andersen, of Logan, Utah, DeMar (Susan) Andersen, of Winnemucca, Nevada.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, January 11, 2013, at the Rigby 8th Ward LDS Chapel, 364 N. 4100 E., Rigby. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m., Thursday evening at Eckersell Memorial Chapel, 101 W. Main Street, Rigby, and from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. prior to services at the church. Burial will be in the Ririe-Shelton cemetery under the care of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
