John Adam Godby, 86, of Dublin died Wednesday in Radford Community Hospital.

Surviving are his wife, Lola Shaffer Godby; two daughters, Pauline Shaffer, Rainelle, W.Va., Brenda Lawrence; Corliss, W.Va.; four sons, Henry Godby of Buchanan, W.Va., Teddy Godby of Longview, Texas, Jimmy Godby and Johnny Godby, of San Jose, Calif.; four stepdaughters Polly Ayers of Dublin, Marie Hussey and Shelby Farmer, both of Radford, and Burma Smith of Portsmouth; two steps-sons, Charles Shaffer of Maryville, Tenn., and Jesse Shaffer of Dublin; three sisters, Lizzie Sills of Ashland, Annie Starcher of Hampton and Julia Bailey of Oakhill, W.Va.; and 33 grandchildren.

The funeral will be Saturday at Bethel United Methodist Church at Corliss with the Rev. Charles Miller and the Rev. Wesley Pennington officiating. Interment will follow in Bethel Cemetery at Corliss. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Seaver-Sanders Funeral Home in Radford and from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Wallace and Wallace Funeral Home in Rainelle.
