MRS. WM. H. HOVENDICK DIES

Mrs. William H. Hovendick, age 64 years, passed away at her home in Blair on Saturday morning, September 17. She had been a victim of heart trouble for some time and two weeks prior to her death she took to her bed.

As Lavina Abigail Rosenbaum, she came with her parents from Abington, Virginia, when but ten years old. She grew to womanhood in the vicinity of Kennard and on December 24, 1891, she was married to William H. Hovendick.

The following spring they purchased a two hundred acre farm near Spiker and immediately began farming.

During the thirty years that they farmed nine children were born to them, seven of whom are still living. They are Ed Hovendick of Herman, Mrs. Pearl Johnson of Blair, Mabel, still at home, Mrs. Hans Christensen of Tekamah, Mrs. Dewey Holstein of Blair, Mrs. Edith Atwood of Blair, and William Hovendick Jr., of Herman.

Mr. and Mrs. Hovendick retired from the active duties of the farm in 1932 and purchased a home in Blair where they have since made their home.

The bereaved husband and the children already mentioned are indeed grief stricken over their great loss.

The funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Bendorf Funeral Home with Rev. E. P. Booher, former Methodist minister at Kennard, officiating, and interment was made in the Blair cemetery.
