Alvin Henry Neuhaus was born July 23, 1910 in Papillion, Nebraska to Wilhelm and Maria Seltz Neuhaus. He was the third in a family of four boys and two girls.

The family moved to the Creighton area in Knox County about 1920, where Al grew up. He was a great baseball player, playing in the Nebraska League. He was the pitcher and his younger brother, Bill, his catcher.

In 1936 Al moved to Los Angeles, California. Here his daughter, Joycelyn, was born to him and his first wife, Vernice Tusha.

Al worked in the shipyards as a welder. He coached Little League baseball, while in California.

1945 found the family back in Omaha, where he supervised welding at Omaha Steel. Later he was a salesman for Fuchs Machinery, Inc.

Al married second to Frances Jean Smith. They moved to Phoenix, Arizona in 1964, where Al supervised the welding department of Allison Steele. A few months later they moved to Tucson, where he was a salesman for AWECO, calling on copper mines.

In 1966 moving to Denver, CO, Al, with another man, established and operated the Certified Welding School in Englewood.

Al retired in 1979 at the age of 69. He was a longtime member of the American Welding Society. He and his wife attended the National Conventions of the Society in St. Louis, Detroit and Chicago.

He enjoyed fishing, tied flies, hunted ducks and pheasants, bowled, played golf, liked to cook. Like all the Neuhaus boys, he could repair household items and cars.

The last year of his life cut back on his activities, when serious health problems developed.

He is survived by his wife, Frances Jean, his daughter, Joy and husband, two grandchildren and three great grandchildren; stepson, Gregory and his family; two sisters, Marie Closter and Helen Schram.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers.
