The daughter of John Henry O'Neil and Emma Levicy Grange, Mary married Louis A. Knipping on 24 Nov 1920 in Granite City, Illinois. They were the parents of 3 children.

Louis passed away in 1974.

Children from first marriage: 1 daughter, 2 sons.

Mary married Fred R. Branding on 08 May 1982 in Centralia, Illinois.

He died in 1996.

Children from second marriage: None.

Due to declining health, Mary became a resident at Colonnades Nursing Home. She died there at the age of 95 years, 7 months and 11 days.

She was survived by 2 sons; Gene Knipping and Bob Knipping, both of South Roxana, Illinois; 1 daughter, Margaret Bradshaw of Bloomington, Illinois; 3 grandchildren; and 1 sister, Mabel Southard of Staunton, Illinois.

In addition to both of her husbands, Mary was preceded in death by her parents; 3 brothers, Charles, Theodore and Jesse O'Neil; and 1 sister, Clara Hessel.

Visitation was held 22 Dec 1996 at Paynic Home for Funerals in Rosewood Heights, Illinois. Funeral services were conducted there at 10 a.m. the following morning. Mary was buried next to her first husband, Louis.

The family requested that memorials, if desired, be made to the Wanda United Methodist Church.
