Bob married Marveline J. Tappy on 04 Feb 1951 in Wood River, Illinois. Around the time of their marriage, Bob worked for Swyerupt-Purcell Engineering and Drafting Company in St. Louis, Missouri. Marveline worked for the Stolze Lumber Company in Wood River.
They were the parents of 1 child.
In early 1952, the Knippings spent time in Houston, Texas for the benefit of Bob's health. They then lived in Paducah, Kentucky before moving to Oak Ridge, Tennessee. They eventually returned to the Madison County area.
Bob spent most of his career as a draftsman for Atomic Energy Industries. He worked there for 40 years and retired in 1998.
Marveline was the co-owner and operator of Your House Hair Care. She worked there for 45 years.
Bob died at his home at the age of 77 years, 9 months and 6 days. He was survived by his wife, Marveline; 1 daughter and son-in-law of Rosewood Heights, Illinois; and 3 grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his sister, Margaret Bradshaw; and brother, Gene Knipping, who died on 16 Feb 2008. Bob died on the day of his brother's visitation.
Gene was buried on 21 Feb 2008. The visitation for Bob was held at Paynic Home for Funerals the following day. Funeral services were conducted there at 1:30 p.m. on the afternoon of 22 Feb 2008. Bob was buried at Wanda Cemetery next to his parents, in the row behind his nephew, Jeff, and brother, Gene.
The family requested that memorials, if desired, be made to the Wanda United Methodist Church in Wanda, Illinois.
Bob's wife, Marveline, passed away in 2011 and was buried next to him.
