Lela Bohanan Helton, age 77 of Sevierville, went home to be with her heavenly Father on Sunday, November 11, 2012. She was born to Russell and Minnie Bohanan on June 8, 1935, and grew up in the Boyds Creek area and attended Gist Creek Church. She was the receptionist and hygienist for Dr. C.P. Wilson for many years. She enjoyed gardening and tending to her flowers, and taking walks. She was happiest when taking trips to the mountains, where she always took opportunities to learn more about her mountain heritage. She will be greatly missed by her family, neighbors, and friends.

Preceded in death by her parents, Russell and Minnie Bohanan; brothers, Tipton Bohanan, Roy Bohanan, Earl King, Jack King, Hettie Boling, and Lillard England; and her house mother at Smoky Mountain Academy, Marge Owens.

She is survived by her husband, Lloyd Helton; sisters, Grace Whaley, Cora Burden, and Edna England; brothers, Milo Bohanan and W.C. Bohanan; nephews, Sam King, Scott King, and special great nephew, Garrett King; and lots of other nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of Pigeon Forge Care and Rehab for the loving care shown to her there.

Funeral service 6PM Tuesday at Atchley's Smoky Mountain Chapel with Rev. W.A. Galyon and Rev. Travis Weeks officiating. Interment 1PM Wednesday in Smoky Mountain Memory Gardens.
