John Scholljegerdes, for many years a prominent farmer of this community, died at the home of his son, John C. Scholljegerdes at Emery, Wisconsin, Sunday. Mr. Scholljegerdes had made his home here with his daughter, Mrs. Max Drache for some time but went to Emery several months ago. The remains were brought to Owatonna and taken out to the home of his daughter, Mrs. Herman Dornquast, east of Owatonna, where private funeral services were held yesterday afternoon with Rev. Conrad Winter, of Owatonna officiating. The remains were laid to rest in the German Lutheran cemetery here.

Mr. Scholljegerdes, who had attained the age of 80 years, was born in Germany. He was about 18 years old when he came to the United States and first resided in Waseca. He and his wife, whose maiden name was Annie Wilker, were the first couple to be married in the German Lutheran church south of Meriden. They lived on a farm in Meriden township for many years.

Mr. Scholljegerdes served as president of the Meriden creamery board and always took a prominent part in the activities of this community. Upon retiring from the farm Mr. and Mrs. Scholljegerdes moved to Owatonna about 18 years ago, where they lived until 2 years ago when Mr. Scholljegerdes' health began to fail. His wife and several sons and daughters survive.
