Mildred M. Swaney
Mildred Marie Swaney, daughter of Edson and Lola Holmes Palmer, was born March 7, 1903 in Liberty Township of Republic County, and died September 17, 1995 at Republic County Hospital at the age of 92 years, six months and 11 days.
She received her education in the country schools and Chester High School.
She was united to Guy Dean Swaney in 1922 at Geneva, Neb., and to this union of 67 years two daughters were born.
She and her family farmed for many years in the Thayer County, Neb.,area.
She was a member of the Christian Church of Hebron, several neighborhood women's groups, and the Nebraska Flying Farmers.
She and her husband moved to Belleville where they lived until his death in 1989.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Dean, brothers, Cilfford and Marion, and sisters, Delcie and Ruth.
She is survived by her daughters, Denelda Huckins of Wichita, and Betty Frye of Bellevelle, brother Clarence Palmer of Belleville, sisters, Nellie Fuller of Rolla, Mo., Viola Throm of Marysville, and Grayce Sterba of Wichita, eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and two great-great-granddaughters.
Services were held Wednesday, September 20, 1995 at Tibbetts-Fischer Chapel in Belleville with Mr. Randy Paugh officiating. Burial was in Belleville Cemetery.
